These days, very few perfumes last five or ten years, and chances are slim that anyone will reach four decades of excellence, becoming known as a timeless classic perfume that remains modern, versatile, and brilliant even with the weight of age. Back in 1984, it was tough to deliver men's perfumes to the public without them being too woody or too 'perfumey.' The standards always leaned towards 'too much,' and many of the perfumes launched at that time are not manufactured anymore.

Perhaps the simple way in which Pellegrino created a clean, fresh, and bright men's fragrance was the greatest success of all. The perfume follows the classic formula of colognes from centuries gone by and became known as a symbol of sophistication and timeless elegance. The top note is citrusy and vibrant, with such orangey nuances and lively green herbs that it transports us to some sunny and cheerful place on the Italian coast. Of course, it's hard to go wrong when a fragrance brings citrus freshness and a touch of herbs in the Italian style!

But considering my aversion to the scents of lemon, orange, and bergamot in perfumes, it's telling that this blend is one of the very few citrus blends I like and keep reaching for... A few minutes later, one of the fragrance's most delicious moments reveals itself... Lavender, nutmeg, clove blossom, cinnamon, and floral notes come together in a deliciously pleasant and comfortable aromatic profusion with distinct nuances that exude elegance. The spicy elements, combined with the flowers, give the perfume its body and make it linger on the skin for several hours, even though it has such an ephemeral feeling. The whole mixture is so delicious that I want to reapply it to feel it all again and again.
